Here is a good example of creating a modern take of an old painting. My friends Jori and Kiley worked together on this image. Its a really great image!! They put their own twist on it, the girl is from a sorority and I think the guy is as well which if you think about it conceptually makes sense. The social politics, significance of wealth, social restraint and behaviors play a role in both court at the time of the painting and that of sororities and fraternities.

Josh here is the painting I told you about its by Jan Van Eyck
look at the reflections in the mirror on the back wall, you may have to zoom in.
A clip from a documentary done for Vogue Magazine “Annie Leibovitz: Life Through A Lens”.
Note how she is a perfectionist and listen to the comments about her at the end
here are some interesting images of David Lachapelle’s that are more on the grotesque side. They seem to be eye candy in a different way than his other images.
In here it mentions his process of recreation and how painstaking it is to recreate a painting with props and a set. I just wanted to make sure everyone understood how much time he has spent and how he used multiple mediums, not just computer manipulations, to construct his pieces to then photograph.
